What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Local storage is a similar browser feature that holds settings on your device. Both can remember choices between visits. The difference that matters here is who can read them: local storage on TimeToolSet stays on your device, while cookies set by services such as analytics and advertising can be read by those services.
Strictly necessary storage and settings
Some tools save your preferences in your browser's local storage so they work the way you left them. Examples are your alarm sound choice, saved layouts and a session log. This storage stays on your device only, is not sent to us, and is used only to make the tool you are using work as you expect. It does not track you. The site also remembers your cookie choice in local storage, under the name tts-consent.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may also set its own basic cookies or headers for security and to keep the site running. We describe this as "may" because it depends on how the service is configured at the time.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to see aggregate usage, such as which tools are used most. It sets two first-party cookies to do this, named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which last up to two years. It runs with consent mode: visitors in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked first, and analytics cookies are not set unless they agree. Without agreement, Google Analytics receives only limited signals that carry no cookie identifier, as described in the privacy policy. Visitors elsewhere are not shown the banner, so analytics cookies are set for them unless they decline through Cookie settings in the footer. Analytics data is kept for the period set in the analytics account, a maximum of 14 months.
Advertising cookies
We plan to show ads through Google AdSense later. Advertising services use cookies to show and measure ads, and may use them to personalise ads. In the UK and EEA, personalised ads need your consent. You can also manage personalised ads through Google's ad settings, whichever country you are in.
To opt out of personalised ads, use Google's ad settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance choices page. Opting out does not remove ads; it makes them less tailored to you.
The consent banner and changing your choice
Visitors in the UK, EEA and Switzerland are shown a consent banner that lets them accept or decline analytics cookies before they are used. We decide who sees the banner from the time zone your browser reports, so it can occasionally appear or not appear in the wrong place; if it does not appear you can still use Cookie settings. Advertising is not active yet, and its cookies will be added to the banner before any ads are shown.
A Cookie settings link in the footer of every page lets you review and change your choice at any time. Choosing Decline also removes the analytics cookies this site has set. You can also withdraw consent at any time by deleting cookies in your browser, as described below.
How to clear cookies and local storage
Every major browser lets you remove stored data. The exact menu names differ, but the path is similar everywhere.
- Open your browser settings and look for Privacy, or Privacy and security.
- Choose the option to clear browsing data, cookies or site data.
- To clear only this site, look for a site data or cookies section and search for timetoolset.com.
- Tick cookies and site data, which includes local storage, then confirm.
What happens when you clear it
Clearing site data removes your saved sound choice, layouts and session log, and the tools return to their defaults. Nothing else is lost, because nothing you enter is kept on our side. For more about how information is handled, see the privacy policy, and use the contact page if you have a question.
