A four minute slot for quick routines

Four minutes fits a brief warm-up question in a lesson, a phone call you have promised to keep short, or a mini-round of a party game. It also works as half of an eight minute block: run it twice and you get a clean two-part slot.

When you press Start, the "Ends at" line works out the finish time from the device clock. After the sound plays, it switches to "Rang at", which is useful if you looked away and want to know how long ago it ended.

Keys are simple: Space for start and pause, R for reset and F for full screen. If you share the page link, the sound you chose comes along with it. The tab title counts down as well, so a minimised window still tells you the time left.

Four minutes is also a tidy unit for planning backwards. If you have to leave at 8:30, starting the timer at 8:26 is a simple way to get a final tidy-up done before you walk out. The display is large, so you can glance at it from the other side of a room while you move around.
