Five minutes: breaks, blitz and short tasks
Five minutes suits many short jobs. Use it for a quick break from a desk, a blitz chess game, a speed-clean of a room, a brief breakout chat in a meeting, or a short warning before a bigger deadline. Five minutes is exactly 300 seconds.
In chess, the international federation (FIDE) counts games of more than 3 and up to 10 minutes per player as blitz, so five minutes per side is a common blitz setting. This single countdown can show it on a shared screen. For a proper two-sided clock with increment, use the chess clock page instead.
Press Start and the "Ends at" line shows the clock time of the bell. Choose a sound, press F for full screen, and use Copy link to hand the same setup to someone else. Your device clock drives the countdown, so a hidden tab stays accurate.
Another common use is a heads-up before something bigger. Set five minutes before a class ends, a call starts or a guest arrives, and the bell tells you it is time to wrap up. Because the page shows the finish clock time, you can also pass it on: "we stop at 4:45".
Questions about this timer
Is this good for a five minute chess game?
It is fine for one shared countdown. A real game needs separate clocks per player, so use the chess clock.
Can I keep it running while I work in another window?
Yes. The tab title shows the remaining time and the sound plays at the end.
How do I stop the sound early?
Press R or the Reset button and it stops.
