Six months, and what happens at month ends
Six months from today keeps today's day number and moves the month forward by six. The page shows the full date, weekday, ISO week number, days from now and, on a second line, the date six months ago. Because months differ in length, the number of days in between varies from 181 to 184.
The tricky part is a day number the target month does not have. The rule here is to stop at the last day of that month. So 31 August plus six months is 28 February, not a made-up date, and in a leap year it is 29 February. The same rule applies to the date six months ago.
Six months is a natural horizon for a half-year goal, a long-range reminder, a review cycle or a project with a mid-year checkpoint. People also use it for dates that "do not expire for half a year", and the page gives a precise calendar date to note down.
If you want exactly 180 days, use that page instead. For other lengths, use the custom box and choose months, weeks or days. Going backward works the same way: six months before 31 August 2026 is 28 February 2026, because February is the shorter month there too.

Questions about this tool
What if the day does not exist six months later?
The result is the last day of that month. For example, 31 August plus six months gives 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year.
Is 6 months the same as 180 days?
No. Six months is 181 to 184 days depending on the start date.
Does the weekday stay the same?
Not usually. Months have uneven lengths, so the weekday moves from case to case.
