Sixty seconds, exactly

One minute is 60 seconds, a length people use for quick, sharp tasks. Time a speed round in a quiz, a one-minute pitch, a rule that everyone speaks for a minute in turn, or the gap you give someone to answer a question before you move on.

The big digits count down while a disc empties. When you start, an "Ends at" line shows the clock time it will ring, and it changes to "Rang at" afterwards. The tab title also shows the time left, so you can watch from another tab.

Pick a sound from soft bell, chime, digital beep and rising tone. Press Space to start or pause, R to reset and F for full screen. Copy link keeps your sound choice, which is handy for a game night where one person runs the timer on a shared screen.

A minute also makes a useful pace test. Read a paragraph aloud, or write as many words on a topic as you can, then compare your result with the next attempt. Because the length never changes, runs are directly comparable from one try to the next, and a rerun costs two key presses.

Questions about this timer

Can I set it for 90 seconds instead?

This page is fixed at one minute. For 90 seconds, use the online timer and type 0 minutes 90 seconds, or 1 minute 30 seconds.

Is the sound loud enough for a group?

The volume follows your device. The digital beep and rising tone cut through room noise more than the soft bell.

Can I restart quickly for the next person?

Yes. Press R to reset and Space to start again without using the mouse.
