Half an hour for calls, classes and long tasks
Thirty minutes is half an hour, the default length of many calls and a typical class activity block. It also suits a longer reading slot, a timed practice paper section or a limit on how long you spend on a chore.
For a longer wait the timer protects against drift by checking the device clock rather than adding up ticks. If you switch away for twenty minutes and return, the display shows the correct time left, and the "Ends at" line still shows the clock time you started with.
Pick one of four sounds, press Space to start or pause and F for full screen. A tab title that counts down lets you keep the timer on a pinned tab while you work. Copy link keeps your sound choice.
Half an hour also makes a handy checkpoint inside a longer day. Set one at the start of a morning, and when it rings, review where you are and decide whether to carry on or switch. It is a mid-point that costs no effort to set and is easy to repeat several times.
Questions about this timer
How many seconds are in half an hour?
1,800 seconds.
Will it sound if I minimize the browser?
Usually yes on a computer. On phones, it depends on whether the browser stays active, so test first.
Can I run it across midnight?
Yes. It counts a length of time, so a start at 11:45 PM rings at 12:15 AM.
